Dear ALERT UTAH,

Our mother having just returned home from the hospital was going through a period of her life where keeping track of and taking all her medications really became a scary ordeal for her, even though she didn't take that many.  She was confused about which medications to take, at what times to take those medications and if she was taking the correct dosage.  She even started second guessing herself and wondered if she had already taken the medication.  Having gone over to her home one evening, we found her really struggling with the concept of trying to manage her daily regimen of medications.  She was SCARED of taking too much or too little of her medication.  Knowing our mother, we knew we had to remove this worry from her.  So, we had your company install a medication dispenser to help her manage her medications.

We found that this automatic medication dispenser really solved the problem of her taking her medications.  Now with the help of the dispenser, she takes her medications on time, three times a day and never has to worry about taking the wrong dosage again.  As a family, we fill her medication tray on a regular basis.  The medication dispenser has helped her regain her strength, her health by helping her take her medications at the correct times and has given her - her independence back!  It has also given us as a family the peace of mind that she is now taking her medications at the right times and the correct doses.

Again, Thank you so much for helping our mother remain in her home!

Taking medications can be a very frightening thing for some, especially the senior population who might be living alone or who might have a medical condition that could cause them to second guess what they are doing.  In a study of senior citizens, four reasons were found why our elderly population is non-compliant in taking medications, they were:

  •   70%  Did not remember to fill or take medications

  •   12%  Said they could not afford medications

  •   10%  Stopped taking medications early (saying they felt better)

  •     8%  Experienced medication side effects

Medication non-compliance has been called "America's other Drug Problem".  An average of 218,000 deaths occur each year because of medication misuse and various studies have found that medication non-compliance among the senior citizen population is very high.  There are many reasons offered up to explain why people over 65 are non-compliant with their medications, fear of drugs, denial of the illness and misunderstanding the instructions on how and when to take them.

Why take a change of your family member becoming a statistic of medication misuse or non-compliance.  See how easy it is to set up and use a medication dispenser for your loved one's.   For more information on how to help make a family member medication compliant click here.

Features of the Automatic medication dispenser

The pill tray has 28 compartments that can be filled with medication. Each compartment is 1" x .5' x .75" and can hold pills of different sizes and combinations of sizes.  When the alarm sounds, the tray advances allowing you or your loved one access to the medication in that compartment.  If you use one daily alarm, the tray is good for 28 days of medication dispensing.

  • Large 1/2” L.E.D. displays the time and aids setting alarms.

  • Audible alarm can be set up to 4 times a day:

  • “Time for medicine” alarm beeps 5 seconds on, 1 second off continuously until the medication
door is slid open and the “off” position is activated.

  • Note: Disabling alarm requires the medication door to be slid open.

  • Programmable alarm sounds for 30, 45, 60, or 250 minutes, as user selects.

  • Powerful alarm sounds similar in tone and volume to a beeping microwave alarm but alarms on for
5 seconds and off for one second until disabled.  Can also have a bright blinking light (optional) for
those people who are hard of hearing.

  • Audible alarm is 90dB, 2800-3000Hz.

  • Only the most recent medication dose is available. Pill tray rotates to the next dose when the next
audible alarm sounds. If a patient misses a dose, the pill dispenser denies access to the missed dose.

Timed-alarm system provides next dosage automatically
